Chinese police are seeking increased cooperation from their counterparts in Chiang Rai to improve transport safety in the Mekong River.
Police from Xishuangbanna in southern China visiting Chiang Rai presented a security cooperation plan to deal with crimes on the Mekong.
The plan followed the establishment of a centre in Chiang Rai to jointly patrol territorial waters. Laos, Myanmar and China also have similar centres.
