The remark about the exit polls from facts only is - as usual- besides the real facts....People by now have learned all polling in Thailand is as rigged by Dubai as the rotten rice scheme...so whenever we read positive polls about the PT/UDD bunch we know it are lies...only lies...

    Congratulations to the winner!
All these posts celebrating Mr. Sukhumbhand's victory remind me of football fans that overjoy for a win in the Europa League simply because they know their team can never make it in the Champions League...
Also interesting to note that to so many anti-PT activists, constantly present on this website, ( seems like always the same small bunch of people )Thailand is such a wonderful example of democracy only when PT gets defeated.

Discussion 28. ok you really are proving to be a joke.
"But, interesting, more than half of voters voted against the actual governor. Nice victory." This is the same as happened in the last general election. Over half of the voters voted against PTP but you claim this was a landslide victory.

"Actually PT Pongsapat had 58% of votes cast"

What planet did that election take place on? The "red" planet?

  • Discussion 58 : 03 Mar 2013 at 22.3358

Actually PT Pongsapat had 58% of votes cast while Sukhumbhand had only 51% of vote casted. The vote margin between them is less than 250,000 votes which means some bangkok resident were away or did not vote. It wasnt a convincing win or landslide win and that could be because of Thaksin factor in voters choice, but that could change in next 4 years. PT could learn some tricks from PAP of Singapore when it comes to election, they had near perfect record until recently things started to go wrong. Pongsapat should stay the course and remain in Bangkok to help them and convince them that the next election they should make him Mayor.

If Yingluck is to be believed and will work seamlessly with Sukhumbhand, that means that Pongsapat's entire campaign was obsolete from the start (apart from the free M150 for motorcycle taxi drivers).

"All 6 exit polls (Baan Somdej, Suan Sutana, ABAC, Suan Dusit, Ch 7, BKK Uni) suggested Pongsapat won by a ~2% to ~11% margin."

Once again, reds try to skew the truth. Maybe people were afraid to say they didn't vote for PTP with all the intimidation that goes on with red thugs.

Facts only "All 6 exit polls (Baan Somdej, Suan Sutana, ABAC, Suan Dusit, Ch 7, BKK Uni) suggested Pongsapat won by a ~2% to ~11% margin."

So? The official count says Sukhumbhand kicked PT's ass.

If I were walking out of a voting booth and someone asked me who I voted for, I'd take the safe option and say I voted for the violent, arsonist, bullying murders' party... Just in case.
