Civil servants to strike over pensions

- +

Members of the Government Pension Fund (GPF) announced on Monday they would go on a mass strike and rally in Bangkok late this month to demand amendments to the fund's regulations to ensure better benefits.

About 8,000 civil servants and teachers covered by the fund from across the country were expected to attend the strike rally, Lertchai Sookprasert, chairman of the GPF Board, said after a meeting with about 50 school administrators and teachers in Surin province.

The protesting members would wear pink T-shirts and gather at the Ministry of Finance, Government House and parliament on March 26, starting at 8.30am, and would not disperse unless they receive a satisfactory response to their requests.
