New southern army chief likely in April

Maj-Gen Kitti Inthasorn is tipped to take over as army chief in the South in a mid-year reshuffle aimed at a smooth transition of power and no disruption to operations in the restive region.

An army source said army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha has decided to promote Maj Gen Kitti, who is the deputy chief of the 4th Army Region, to replace  Udomchai Thammasaroratch in the mid-year reshuffle.

The list will be announced this month and the promotion will be effective on April 1.

    D1 and D3. Maj Gen Kitti is already working in the South as deputy commander and it is always better to have someone with the local knowledge and experience to take over rather than a "newbie" sent in from Central government who may have no idea of what is going on.
    I also think that Abhisit and the Democrats are foolish in rejecting Chalaerms offer to join the meeting.
    You can learn far more from the inside than sitting outside.

    Lt.Generals will get promote to Maj.Generals and by the time he retires he will collects pension as Maj.Generals. Nice way to move up and get pay more.At the same token Maj.Generals Kitti will be move up and move out of comfort of Bangkok office and face restive south, nice promotion as well.

    "disruptions ", disruptions of exactly what "operations" in the restive region ? Mainly counting bodies and destroyed buildings and cctv installations as I see it.
