CHON BURI - A 57-year-old Israeli man apparently died of a heart attack while in bed with a bar girl in a hotel room in Pattaya, police said on Thursday.

Pol Maj Kriengkriwut Buakla, investigation officer of Muang Pattaya police station, said he received a report that a tourist from Israel had died in room number 414 of Suthas Court hotel, South Pattaya.

He had checked in to the hotel on Jan 17 and was due to check out on Thursday.

Re Discussion 11 - To clarify my earlier comment, I meant that the headline did not not have to spell out these details which could, and were. covered in the text. This is sensation seeking press and would not have read that way had the female been a cook and the male a Thai taxi driver. That being said I don't recall ever reading about an Israeli crime problem anywhere.

D11 , what are you talking about. People getting Thai nationality amount to perhaps 10 to 20 per year if that. It takes at least 3 years, money and credentials. Becoming a resident is almost as hard and at the least that requires the applicant to be able to read and speak Thai. All the rest of the foreigners here are on temporary visas , be they work or retirement related 1 year visas or 90 day or 30 day tourist visas. Pretty racist also to tag all North Africans as drug users. Ask the Thai police who the mafia is and the answer will be its Thai's who run the big rackets.

re Discussion 1: of course it is important! You wouldn't like to hear that it was a Thai!!! In my country everyone (asylum seekers) gets the nationality in less than 9 months. Therefore, my country is full of North Africans, Talibans, Eastern Europeans and Africans, all coming in for suspicious business and drugs. They are the trouble makers and we know it, but they have our Nationality! For sure we want to know from the newspaper who was involved in an "incident", "crime" or "drug deal"... Thais are surely not different!

This is actually a rare incident. Most die from sudden impact with the pavement, or by violent means. It IS quite rare to read about a naturally caused death with a bar girl in Pattaya.
