Anti-corruption spirit needed

Independent organisations alone will never be able to eradicate corruption if Thai people themselves do not embrace the fight, say crusaders for good governance. 

A strong opposition to corruption needs to be implanted in all Thai people from childhood, said Vicha Mahakhun, a member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

"We cannot just inject the sense of responsibility not to be corrupt in adulthood," he said on Friday at a seminar marking 15 years of independent organisations arising from the 1997 constitution.
