Latvians caught using fake credit cards

Two Latvian men have been arrested in Bangkok for using fake credit cards to buy goods in department stores, according to Pol Col Archayon Kraithong, deputy chief of the Tourist Police.

He said the Tourist Police and Kasikornbank (KBank) worked together to track down the pair, identified as Arkadijs Artjuhs, 56, and Vladislavs Poplavskis, 53.

They were arrested after investigators received a report that two men were buying camera equipment with a fake credit card at Central Plaza Ladprao on Friday afternoon.

Hard to believe that after six days of high $$ suspicious transactions the fraud department of the issuing banks didn't catch on. More than once I've had my US bank card put on hold within 10 minutes of making a legitimate purchase ie: filled up my car with gas at a local PTT station.

So they managed to find out the details of their operation but have yet to discover whether or not they have accomplices in Thailand? Hmmm... The way things have been lately the accomplice is probably a policeman or three.

They must have heard that Thailand is a haven for fraudsters - it's endemic here.
