Abbot, drunk youths in punch-up

A 57-year-old abbot was involved in a fistfight with a group of drunken youths at a gas station in Ubon Ratchathani province, a Thai Rath report said on Tuesday.

Phra Prasert Sriluan, the abbot of Wat Tha Chang Nok in Ubon Ratchathani, said that he drove a car to the pump before going out to beg for alms because there was no one available to drive it for him. He later bought some items at a convenience store.

    It shows that people are becoming less tolerant in all things ...be it businesses, politics, faiths and love affairs and to add up with, within families too. Can we imagine which way are we heading to? and at the same time what can we do to stop this menace???

    Some people say that it was just hidden, but I disagree: Thailand was NOT this violent when I arrive (1981).

    This is bad news and worse, a bad trend...
