PBS executives defend call to axe final monarchy debate

Thai PBS executives have defended their decision to cancel the final episode of a debate on the constitutional monarchy.

The programme was scheduled to be aired on the station's Tob Jote Thailand political talk programme on Friday. They said the station feared broadcasting the discussions could spark social conflict.

Thai PBS said it had taken social responsibility into account before deciding to review the broadcast of the taped discussions of some sensitive issues.
