Tourists warned, beware of monkeys

Authorities have put up signs on popular beaches in Krabi province, warning tourists to be wary of ill-behaved, hungry monkeys, a Thai Rath report said on Tuesday.

The signs are written in both Thai and English with the message "Beware of the Monkeys". They were placed at popular tourist attractions such as Long Beach, Monkey Bay and on Phi Phi Island.

How about signs to warn tourists to beware of tuk-tuk and jet-ski scammers; they'll also rob you and are prone to attacking you if you argue with them.

its very strange why the monkeys in thailand are alot more agressive than in malaysia or cambodia.
I am not the only person to notice this i wonder why? something in the water? the way they are treated? i dont know! i know at a national park in malaysia they said dont feed them and hide all food and drink, much better advice than just beware of monkeys! maybe why? Glad to see a lot of them on samui got arrested recently, the men with the cameras not the monkey that is!!
Lets face it they should be in trees not tacky bars and always should be in pairs or groups not alone!

They are nasty, vicious muckers. Cute only from 50 metres away - and then only if you have nothing remotely resembling food on your person. They'll wreck your car at the first chance if you encourage them to come near - aerial gone, wipers gone......

"She warned tourists not to feed the monkeys living along the beaches because they will develop a bad habit of becoming hostile towards people who do not give them food."
She may be right.....Seems that same bad habit has afflicted the police department in Thailand.
