EC to investigate governor poll complaints

The Bangkok election committee has accepted two complaints against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and several Democrat MPs over their role in the March 3 governor election.

Taweesak Tuchinda, chairman of the Bangkok EC, said the complaint against the premier was initiated by Green Politics group coordinator Suriyasai Katasila while the one against the Democrats was submitted by the Pheu Thai Party and former senator Ruangkrai Leekitwattana.

In the Yingluck petition, the prime minister was accused of abuse of authority by helping Pheu Thai candidate Pongsapat Pongcharoen canvass for votes in military barracks, which could be in violation of Section 60 of the local election law.
