Myanmar authorities have asked Thailand to keep tabs on six Thais who are now receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Chumphon province for allegedly being involved in the killing of 13 Myanmar soldiers.
The Myanmar troops were shot dead during a gunfight with an unidentified armed group yesterday in a Myanmar border village near Kra Buri district in Ranong province, Thai officials said. Two soldiers remain missing.
Thai authorities are investigating whether the attack involved a group of Thais who encroached on Myanmar territory last year. However, Myanmar authorities have said the six Thais now in hospital were the culprits.
