Court rejects Ruangkrai petition

- +

The Constitution Court on Thursday rejected a petition filed by former senator Ruangkrai Leekitwattana seeking the dissolution of the Democrat Party, the court's chief spokesman Pimol Thampithakpong said.

Mr Ruangkrai's petition accused the Democrat Party of a breach of paragraph 1 of Section 68 of the constitution.

He accused party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva of wrongly assigning 11 MPs led by Wirat Kalayasiri of Songkhla to be members of the committee for the scrutiny of a bill seeking to amend Sections 68 and 237 of the constitution after it was passed by parliament on its first reading.
