Van driver held for attempted rape

- +

NONTHABURI – Police on Tuesday arrested a public van driver who was recently released from prison, and charged him with trying to rape a female passenger.

Nonthaburi police chief Thanayuth Wuthijamrasthamrong said Wanna Joysrigate, 33, had attempted to rape a 26-year-old woman passenger on Sunday night, when she was the last passenger in his van on a trip from Chatuchak to Bang Bua Thong housing estate in Nonthaburi province.

The woman filed a complaint with police on Monday, saying Wanna drove at high speed and did not stop to pick up any  passengers during the time she was alone with him in the van. He parked at a bus stop in front of Klao Rattana housing estate on Rattanathibet Road and approached her in the back seat, trying  to force himself on her.
