The Japan-Thailand Joint Venture Group withdrew from the bidding for the country's water management projects because it would rather take on a consulting role, Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi says.

The deputy prime minister was demonstrating the strength of one of the tanks to be distributed to drought victims. Mr Plodprasop, who chairs the government's Water and Flood Management Commission (WFMC), said the group would rather consult on the projects than build them.
