Sudarat won't contest by-election

- +

Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, a core member of the Pheu Thai Party, says she will not run for election in the June 16 by-election in Bangkok's Constituency 12.

Speaking to the press at her home in Soi Lat Plakhao 60 on Monday, Ms Sudarat admitted she was approached by senior Pheu Thai figures to stand as the party candidate in the by-election.

She said she turned down the request because she wanted to concentrate on her project to renovate Lord Buddha's birthplace in southern Nepal.
