KRABI : High waves and strong winds hit Krabi beaches and several tourist islands yesterday afternoon, damaging dozens of long-tailed boats and leaving tourists stranded, local authorities said.
Pol Lt Col Chaiyasit Khancharoen, inspector of Krabi marine police, said they were trying to rescue about 100 tourists on Koh Hong, which had been battered by strong winds and high waves.
He said that about 10 tourist boats had been damaged by rough seas. A patrol boat had been dispatched to bring the tourists back to the mainland.
