The electricity blackout in all southern provinces over a week ago caused 500 million baht in damages to industries, the southern region of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) concluded.
Industries hardest hit by the outage included rubber, rubber plantations, frozen food and oil palm, it said in a statement on Thursday.
Peera Pechpanich, chairman of the FTI in the South, said industrialists in 14 provinces would be able to fix the damage without government assistance. But he called for a serious effort to be made to handle the rising demand for power in the region.
