Kamnan slain, killer dies in crash

CHANTHABURI – Three men who murdered a kamnan, or tambon chief, in Khaeng Hang Maew district crashed their escape vehicle fleeing the scene and the gunman was killed and the other two injured on Monday morning. 

Pol Col Sophon Sirimachan, superintendent at Khaeng Hang Maew Police station, said according to a preliminary report Boonjing Pinit, aka kamnan Daeng, of tambon Khaeng Hang Maew, was shot dead by three men at his home.

Boonjing was preparing to attend a meeting of village and tambon chiefs. The men talked to Boonjing for a while and then one man pulled a gun and fired about six shots at him. He died later at the hospital. Police later found spent 9mm bullet cases at the scene, witnesses told police.
