Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) police have arrested two men following a crackdown on an overseas job placement scam, and two women for alleged human trafficking and procurement of prostitutes.
AHTD commander Pol Maj Gen Chavalit Sawaengphuet said Noppadol Thianthipjaras, 68, and Sathit Pinthong, 54, were arrested for allegedly conning more than 100 people out of 50,000-60,000 baht each.
The two men are accused of lying to people by falsely offering them construction, farming and seafood processing jobs in Japan. They took the cash, but no jobs transpired, police said.
