A total of 21 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras were torched by suspected insurgents in the southern border province of Narathiwat, police said on Sunday morning.

Pol Maj Gen Wichai Kasemwong, chief of Narathiwat police force, said six of the burnt CCTV cameras were in Cho Airong district, another six in Bacho, five in Muang, three in Chanae and one in Si Sakhon.

The suspected separatist militants also put up a sign in Ra-ngae district, demanding soldiers withdraw from the southernmost provinces. There were also several incidents of spray-painted vandalism on roads and traffic signs.
