Natural Resources and Environment Minister Vichet Kasemthongsri will form a panel to deal with forest encroachment cases _ the first of its kind at the ministry.
The 15-member panel will comprise representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Attorney-General's Office, the Royal Thai Police, the army, the Department of Special Investigation, and non-governmental organisations such as the Seub Nakasathian Foundation. It will be chaired by the ministry's deputy permanent secretary.
Mr Vichet said he hoped the panel would help solve long-standing problems of forest encroachment and protect the public's interest.
