A warder at the central prison in Chiang Mai was arrested on Sunday while on duty as he attempted to smuggle in methamphetamine and mobile phones to sell to prisoners.
Pol Col Weerawut Niemnoi, deputy commander of Chiang Mai provincial police, said the province’s central prison arrested a warder identified as Anond Wongsen, 35, with 3,651 ya ba pills and three mobile phones on Friday. He hid the contraband in his uniform.
The police then searched the suspect’s house in Wieng Pa Pao district in Chiang Rai over the weekend. They found another 3,675 yaba pills and five more mobile phones, seven mobile phone batteries, 21 chargers and 100,000 baht in cash.
