Villagers have pressed charges against an abbot and a nun at Pa Sri Pracha monastery in Surin's Sikhoraphum district, accusing them of swindling them of cash and assets totalling 56.6 million baht.
According to the victims, Phra Baideegasamai Titseelo, and his companion Pang Tarjarawat, convinced 65 townspeople to lend the temple cash and valuables for the construction of a sanctuary and a golden Buddha image within the monastery grounds, promising to repay everything they borrowed within six months.
But the monk did not show up when it was time to return what he owed. That was three years ago
