The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will seize assets of government officials accused of being involved in fraudulent value-added tax (VAT) refund claims worth more than 4 billion baht and seek arrest warrants for wrongdoers.
DSI director-general Tarit Pengdith yesterday said the Finance Ministry will forward him a list of government officials suspected of being involved in the fraudulent VAT refund claims today. Their assets will be seized, he said.
Next week his department will seek arrest warrants for about 10 suspects in the tax scam. More suspects will face action later.
