PRACHIN BURI — The abbot of a temple in Kabin Buri district that has been flooded with abandoned animals, including a wild boar and several snakes, is asking for help from the authorities, saying he cannot keep up with the cost of feeding the animals.

Wat Pah Pawana Dhamme in Moo 2 of tambon Lat Takian is currently home to a wild boar, four monkeys, three pythons, three tortoises, almost a dozen rabbits, 50 cats and dozens of dogs.

Phra Kanchit Khanti Dhammo, the abbot, said on Monday many pet owners had abandoned their animals on the temple grounds in recent years. Some asked to leave them temporarily, but never returned to collect them.
