The Rights and Liberties Protection Department will ask the cabinet to review compensation criteria for those who were falsely imprisoned during political unrest between 2005 and 2010.

Under the current criteria, those jailed but later acquitted or not indicted can receive 750,000 baht if they were incarcerated for between 90 and 180 days.

The department's director-general, Pol Col Narat Sawettanan, said Tuesday some victims who were held for less than 90 days had asked for the criteria to be reviewed so they could also receive compensation.
