A senior police officer who fired multiple rounds from his M16 assault rifle inside a police station has been denied bail.

The request to the Phra Khanong district court in Bangkok was made by relatives and the lawyer for Burin Lalitathada, an inspector at the Bang Yi Rua police station.

The court said on Friday that it believed there was a risk the suspect could be a no-show if he was temporarily set free, given his earlier attempt to evade arrest.
