The national rubber policy committee on Thursday rejected a demand by rubber farmers that government guarantee the price of unsmoked rubber sheet at 100 baht/kg.
Rubber farmers' representatives made the demand during more than two hours of official talks on Wednesday night at the government office complex on Chaeng Wattana Road.
The demand was then considered by the national rubber policy committee at a meeting this morning.
The committee meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong, rejected the demand and stood by its Aug 14 resolution on measures to help rubber growers through a subsidy of 1,260 baht per rai, although it agreed to extend the cap on the subsidy from 10 to 25 rai per farmer.
Those who had encroached on forests and planted rubber would not be eligible for the subsidy.
