PHUKET - A robber who broke into a gold shop in Kathu district on Sunday left empty-handed after the welding equipment he used to try and burn a hole through the safe ran out of gas.
Shop owner Nuchapa Ketdarat, 49, found her shop had been broken into, although the safe was intact. The robber left behind a welding machine and two empty gas cylinders.
Police said the thief used the torch to cut through the wrought iron protecting the safe.
