2013 budget in use beyond Oct 1

- +

The cabinet on Tuesday made a resolution for the 2013 budget to continue to be in use beyond Oct 1, pending the Constitution Court's ruling on the constitutionality of the 2014 Budget Bill, government spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi said.

The new fiscal year usually begins on Oct 1.

Mr Teera said the continued use of the 2013 budget, as proposed by the Budget Bureau, is necessary after a petition was filed for the Constitution Court to rule whether some provisions on allocations for independent agencies and courts of justice in the 2014 Budget Bill contravene the constitution.
