UTHAI THANI - More than 60,000 people have signed a petition against the government's 350-billion-baht water management and flood prevention programme.

A public hearing on the programme was held in the auditorium of Ramkhamhaeng University's Uthai Thani campus in Muang district on Friday. It was attended by more than 10,000 people from eight districts.

Phadet Nuipree, president of the Uthai Thani provincial administration organisation and Uthai Thani MP Chada Thaised of the Chartthaipattana Party spoke out against the scheme. Mr Chada handed the petition to Uthai Thani governor Wanchai Osukhonthip.
