NAKHON RATCHASIMA - A Thai tourist policeman and two Russians were arrested for allegedly using fake credit and debit cards to withdraw money from bank accounts belonging to people from more than 50 countries, police said on Monday.

The suspects were identified as Pol Sen Sgt Maj Nonthapan Saengsuk, 37, Vasily Ivanoff, 27, and Serge Peterneff, 38. They had in their possession 328 counterfeit ATM cards and more than 2.9 million baht in cash.

Provincial Police Region 3 chief Theerasak Glingpongsa said police had staked out ATM machines in Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang district after being tipped off that a group of Russians involved in card fraud were hiding in the area.
