Celebrity protest leader Seri Wongmontha has been accused of launching into an "anti-foreigner" rant in the wake of an interview with a Western journalist.

The outburst reportedly took place Tuesday afternoon during an address to the People’s Democratic Reform Committee’s (PDRC) Asok rally stage.

Quotes from the incident were posted on Twitter by Patrick Winn, senior Southeast Asia correspondent at the Global Post, who claimed the protest leader veered into an "anti-foreigner rant" in front of demonstrators.

“Do they think we're stupid? It’s proven people with yellow skin are smarter than people with white skin,” Mr Seri allegedly said. “Thais who study abroad get better marks than their classmates. They think they're better than us."
