Worried Prayuth cancels trip to South

- +

Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has cancelled his inspection trip to the southern border provinces tomorrow and will send his deputy instead due to the increasingly tense political situation in Bangkok, an army source said on Tuesday.

The source said Gen Prayuth on Tuesday remained at the 1st Infantry Regiment Royal Guard on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road and did not attend his usual daily meeting with other senior army officers.

He was closely monitoring the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) operation to reclaim rally sites from the People's Democratic Reform Committee and ordered the deployment of military medical personnel and rapid response units to Pan Fah Bridge, where protesters clashed with riot police, the source said.
