Watch water supplies, PM warns farmers

Yingluck tells meeting act now to stop crisis

CHIANG MAI - Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra wants farmers nationwide to carefully monitor their water use, since the supply allocated for agricultural use in the dry season has been reduced to less than half. 

Forestry staff show how bushfires can be tackled using firebreaks at Suthep-Pui National Park in Chiang Mai. The demonstration was watched by caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra who attended a meeting on haze and drought mitigation yesterday. PATIPAT JANTHONG

Ms Yingluck on Thursday also instructed authorities to cooperate on water-management solutions and prepare contingency plans to help those affected by water shortages.
