The Pheu Thai Party on Monday issued a statement saying that a fresh general election is the best way out of the conflict wracking the country.
The statement said Pheu Thai is of the opinion that the current political crisis is caused by some groups of people and political parties which do not want democracy, do not accept or respect the sovereign power of the Thai people and their decision made through an election process.
They had denied and intentionally obstructed the electoral process with the aim to create a vacuum in politics and the administration. Their intent was to establish themselves as a sovereign power through three methods - seizure of power by the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) under Suthep Thaugsuban, an unconstitutional process through the Senate to appoint a non-elected prime minister, and seeking a royally-bestowed prime minister under Section 7 of the constitution.
