A raid on a hotel in Phitsanulok's Muang district searching for anti-coup activists has inadvertently uncovered an illegal casino with alleged links to senior police.

Since the raid, four senior police officers have been transferred to inactive posts.

Deputy police chief Pol Gen Ake Angsananant said the four officers were reassigned to the Police Region 6 Bureau pending a fact-finding inquiry into negligence of duty. The officers are suspected of turning a blind eye to the casino's operation.
