Police and soldiers have been deployed at 11 sites in Bangkok where anti-coup protests are expected to be held Sunday afternoon, Metropolitan Police traffic division chief Jirasant Kaewsaeng-ek said.
Pol Maj Gen Jirawant said the deployment was to control any rallies and any disruption by anti-coup protesters. Authorities initially planned to guard five sites, but later decided to cover 11 spots.
The 11 spots are: Victory Monument; Central Department Store at Lat Phrao; Major-Cineplex theatre at the Ratchayothin intersection; Seacon Square Department Store; Central Department Store at Bang Na; Democracy Monument; Thammasat University Tha Phrachan campus and the Temple of Emerald Buddha; Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre, Siam Paragon and Amarin Plaza; Terminal 21 Department Store; BTS skytrain stations at Chong Nonsee and Lumpuni; and Wong Wien Yai.
