Khao Yai Forest avoids danger list

The World Heritage Committee has agreed to wait two years before deciding whether the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex should be put on the List of World Heritage in Danger. 

However, Thailand has been told it must do its homework and develop action plans to curb illegal logging of Siamese rosewood, as well as committing to not building more dams in the forest.

Logging crimes not only present a threat to the complex’s Outstanding Universal Value, but also threaten the safety of forest rangers.
