Yingluck urges large referendum turnout

Former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra has posted a message on her Facebook page urging people to turn out in large numbers to vote in the Aug 7 charter referendum.

In the message posted on Sunday, Ms Yingluck said Aug 7 was very important to the country's future.

Since the vote result would be decided by the majority, regardless of the turnout, it was necessary for the people to turn up in large numbers to show their love for democracy.

Moreover, she said, their votes would decide the country's future, to show whether the draft charter being put to a referendum was acceptable to them or not.

Ms Yingluck said the people's votes would also show whether or not they thought the draft charter would be beneficial to them.
