Prayut highly rated for his performance: Poll

Most people rate Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's performance during two and a half years in office as "good to very good", according to a survey carried out by the National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll.

The poll was conducted on Feb 20-24 on 1,250 people aged 18 and over of various levels of education and occupations throughout the country.

On Gen Preyut's performance as prime minister for the past two years and six months, 48.32% of the respondents rated it as "good" and 34.96% "very good". The rest said his performance was not good or had no comment.

Most of the respondents, or 82.4%, said Gen Prayut had a strong intention of working for the country and the people. Only 12.16% said he lacked such an intention and the rest had no comment.

Asked about Gen Prayut's decisiveness, 84.48% of the respondents said he was good at making important political and administrative decisions; 10.08% said he was indecisive; and the rest were uncertain or had no comment.

On Gen Prayut's efficiency in solving the country's problems, most or 78.88% said he was an efficient prime minister; 14.48% said he lacked the efficiency; and the rest were uncertain or had no comment.

In terms of transparency, 67.36% said Gen Prayut was transparent and accountable; 16.96% said he lacked both transparency and accountability; and the rest were uncertain or had no comments.

Asked to name the first five ministers whose performances have been impressive to them, the respondents named Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, 55.92%; Social Development and Human Security Minister Adul Saengsingkaew, 54.48%; Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda, 54.16%; Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, 53.76%; and Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, 53.20%.
