Watana invited by military for talks

Former commerce minister Watana Muangsook, a core member of the Pheu Thai Party, has accepted an "invitation" to see the military at the 1st Army for talks on Monday.

"I have been invited to the 1st Army," Mr Watana posted on his Facebook page and LINE to the media on Sunday.

The former Pheu Thai MP said he was contacted by a battalion commander of the 21st Infantry Regiment on Saturday. The officer said his commander wanted to see him for talks about some information on any date he felt convenient.

Mr Watana said he had accepted the polite invitation and would go to the 1st Army on Feb 27 at 10am.

The former minister, a staunch critic of the present administration, has posted on Facebook his disapproval of the government's actions on several issues, the latest one being about the use of Section 44 of the interim charter to take control of Wat Phra Dhammakaya.
