Junta 'invites' Watana for talks

Former commerce minister Watana Muangsook, a core member of the Pheu Thai Party, has been called in for talks with the military at the 1st Army Monday, possibly for a reprimand over his outspoken comments.

"I have been invited to the 1st Army headquarters," Mr Watana posted on his Facebook page and on Line to the media Sunday.

The former Pheu Thai MP said he was contacted by a battalion commander of the 21st Infantry Regiment on Saturday. The officer said his commander wanted to see him for talks on any date he felt convenient.

Mr Watana said he had accepted the invitation and would go to the 1st Army at 10am on Monday

The former minister, a staunch critic of the military regime, has posted his disapproval on Facebook of the government's actions on several issues, the latest one concerning the use of Section 44 of the interim charter to take control of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, saying he believed doing so would lead to violence.
