Democrats: Thaksin 'using' Cambodia

  • Published: 14/11/2009 at 02:51 PM
  • Online news:

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is using Cambodia as a political base to topple the government, Thepthai Senpong, spokesman of the Democrat Party leader, said on Saturday.

Mr Thepthai pointed out that the withdrawal of Cambodian troop along the dispute border near the Preah Vihear temple on Friday was made because Hun Sen wanted to make Thaksin a hero.

He said the fact was that there was no military tension along the Thai-Cambodian border. The accusation that

“Thai government had sent a spy to Cambodia was purely a pretext to help justify Hun Sen’s latest support for Thaksin”, he said.

Regarding the fund-raising concert to be held in Khao Yai of Nakhon Ratchasima province late this afternoon by leaders of the pro-Thaksin United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) is aimed at showing that the UDD has no money.

UDD wanted to show that Thaksin has never provided any financial support to the red-shirted people group as alleged by the Democrats.

As this is the same Thepthai Senpong who has said "Thaksin's comments were offensive to the monarchy, and may warrant 'seven generations of beheading'", I think we can take it that he comes to these topics with a clear point of view - i.e. a bias.

On that basis, could I ask the Bangkok Post's staff to start using "claimed that" instead of "pointed out that" when referring to the kind of stuff that he says here in a NEWS report.

People "point out" facts - NOT opinions or speculation.

If this is true then that would make Cambodia complicit in that attempt.. Anyhow, now that Cambodia has withdrawn their troops maybe the Thai Military should occupy the Temple grounds..

Actually, the current government was elected into power, and the elected MP's voted in Abhisit. Myth # 4,354 being spread around by the PTP.

PPP didn't win because they were disbanded for voter fraud - OBVIOUS voter fraud and conflict of interest.

JaJa, red is Singapore's national color. Get a grip on reality. It was on their flag while Thaksin was demanding bribes at traffic stops.

If the government who came to power by betrayal and illegal coups was not so inept they would have nothing to worry about where Mr Thaksin is. But as the Thai people miss and long so much the living standard they once enjoyed under Mr Thaksin. The man that is the only one to provide it will always be a threat and an inept government who has no answer to the collapse of the economy will always spit out hate and be aided by a biased and hateful press with no answer to why their inept man is so useless.
Cambodia is the big winner and most THai people believe this.

What a shame that this present un-democractic government itself hijacked democracy and with the help of the military brokered a deal behind the scenes and manueverings, came to power. Now they are hounding Thaksin all over the world and will not stop at their low ball tactics of smearing, accusing, slandering, blaming, hounding Thaksin where ever he is. WHAT ABOUT THE MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS FACING THAILAND THAT THEY PROMISED TO DEAL WITH AND FIND SOLUTIONS and SOLVE???

Why worry so much what Thaksin and Cambodia is doing? The people is waiting and wanting one thing. It is a better living. Prove it to them.

Cambodia is being sucked into this polarized situation as pointed out.

How in the world you could turn everything inside out? Reducing troop equates to hero Thaksin. Is it a message that Cambodia wants peace?

How a spy issue turn into support for Thaksin? Take responsibility.

Now Thaksin is gone, what about this government? Would they take the country forward? Just think now people..most of the time they spent time hounding on Thaksin, disregards all its citizen needs...what about new election? Current situation is that PAD thugs is back on street while UDD organized fund raising in Kao Yai. PAD protestor is launching tomorrow, yet no ISA law was imposed on the PAD Thugs, but when UDD make an announcement about the rally, firt thing the government do is declared ISA law against the Red Shirts. If you didn't call this double standards, what is?

Nice to see that the innocent Mr. Thaksin feel at home in Cambodia, of course no problem, when comming close to all the criminal thais living in the country. Also Mr. 1000 per cent perfect Thaksin can go out with his friend Hun Sen to name some more roads and bridges.
As Cambodia is number 134 most corrupt country in the world, is can perhaps also learn Mr. innocent something.
