12 DSI teams probe 89 rally deaths

Twelve DSI teams are now investigating the deaths of 89 people during the April-May protests of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, and the investigation will be concluded in 45 days, Department of Special Investigation chief Tharit Pengdit said

He was speaking after chairing a meeting of investigators on Wednesday.

He said emphasis would be given to the six people who were killed at Wat Pathumwanaram, to Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol or Seh Daeng, Japanese photographer Hiro Muramoto and Italian reporter Fabio Polenghi.

The bottomline responsibility lies with the fugitive in Montenegro, but we all know that he is too much of a coward to ever stand up for his actions.

My God, why spend money and lost time while John in BKK already wrote the report. Thai soldiers (50000) fired hundred of thousand live bullets. So, DSI, put they maybe touched somebody... Just for the serious.

    My prediction:
"We have determined that these deaths were caused my high-velocity rounds. No evidence of soldiers firing these rounds have been found, nor evidence of orders given to soldiers to fire these rounds. It is possible that men in black fired these rounds."

wonder how the investigators will avoid involving the military that did the killings?

or are they just hoping we will all forget in 45 days?

Why the emphasis on certain deaths?

They all died and they all deserve to have their deaths taken seriously.

Not likely to happen though. They've taken more than three months to decide that it would be a god idea to ask for witnesses and phots from the public. This sort of evidence should have been gathered from Day One.

Hi, this is like an old village saying: the dog barked 6 months after the burglary. After 3 months, we first get a report by DSI that they had no reports at all, and now they appoint xx Teams to investigate in yy deaths, with a mandate of 45 days !! This is sad and in bad-taste, and surely does not do justice to the lives lost but shows callous disregard and disrespect to the lives lost, and the very process of what investigation is supposed to mean. So sad !

This news item is preposterous. On my count there are six investigations in process. None are making progress, none have a clear objective. There is no process, no precedent in Thai procedure for a credible investigation. The time has come for International Criminal Court procedure.

How can we expect the truth if DSI do the investigation. A royal commission should be set up and the DA office should head.
