Senator opposes emergency extension

The government should not extend the imposition of emergency decree in Bangkok and nearby provinces for another three months as the situation has returned to normal, Direk Thuengfang, Nonthaburi senator, said on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Direk was responding to a remark by Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Centre for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) Suthep Thaugsuban that the CRES would keep the emergency law in place in the capital and vicinity for another three months.

Mr Suthep cited the bomb attack on the state-run NBT, or Channel 11, television station on Tuesday as justification for the decision.

MANNY #4: I will not call you so but what you write borders on the insane.

The red shirts, a few thousand strong are said to have run amuck shooting themselves when attacked by tens of thousands of soldiers.

Video footage and photographs that show the uniformed snipers and soldiers shooting indiscriminately are blocked and banned in Thailand so the government spin can continue full speed ahead.

BTW had an emergency decree been in rigeur during the PAD's heyday today we might still have democracy.

Supposing what you say is true, that still does not give a valid reason for red shirt extremists to murder innocent people or destroy public property amongst many other appalling actions they committed. Their actions were not NOT inline with any democratic protest as the senator claims; regardless of the situation.

Make no mistake! The gouvernement has no say in this... the military will decide. THEY are running this country. Face it.

While I certainly agree that PEACEFUL demonstrations are in fact a part of democracy and must be allowed, I also disagree with the senator stating the past "demonstrations" were inline with a democratic system. Burning buildings, terrorizing hospitals, stealing corpses, allowing "protesters" to carry firearms, bomb attacks and killing of civilians, threatening to behead government officials, etc., if NEVER inline with any democratic process. Sorry senator, you really missed the boat with that.

Is there senator is going to take responsibility when there are another bomb that killed someone or more? SOE doesn't affect people normal life coz it help to maintain safety and security in BKK.Let the government decide whether the SOE are to be extended another 3 months or not coz they have intellegence agency monitoring the situation.
Only the reds doesn't like the SOE because they want to start another mob ASAP.
