Thaksin 'kept quiet for reconciliation'

Fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said he had been quiet for some time because he wanted to see reconciliation in the country.

"I was quiet and some people thought I was dead or seriously ill. But when I came out, they accused me of creating unrest in the country," Thaksin said in a phone-in to his supporters in a concert in Pattaya on Saturday night. The ousted premier said although he was living abroad, he had given suggestions to the opposition Puea Thai Party to help improve people's well-being and clear their debts."If there is an opportunity, I want to...

I wonder if Thaksin is behind the smuggling of Sri Lankan Tamils to Canada by boat. Someone is making big money here.

Why didn't he keep quiet during the protest? Thaksin added fuel to the fire. Now that he didn't win the fight, he is saying the PT members betrayed him. What a loser, stand by your countrymen to fight the fight if that is what you believe. Don't live in luxury in Europe and go shopping with your daughter at LV stores and talk about fighting for the poor. Its disgusting.

Majority of us are sick about these peoples now a day.Just want to spend our life normally and peacefully.

With Thaksin, it is ALWAYS about Thaksin! Delusional, self-centered and out of touch with reality. His words say it all! When MP’s chose to resign from the party, Thaksin’s comment was, that,” he was used to getting betrayed”! HE! Not a betrayal to the party, not a betrayal to the people the party is supposed to be representing but a personal betrayal to Thaksin. How does a person’s image of self get so out of whack with reality?

The tourists were very happy to have a Red Shirt concert in Pattaya this day.
Almost all of the Pattaya policemen were there…
And not chasing and fining the tourists on rented motorbikes for not having a driving license.

This 'paak waan' (sweet mouth) of Thaksin- again abusing the loyalty of the people. Incredible though, that so many people still believe in him. Must be their lack of education and their frustration with not being successful in life. High time the Thai elite starts to spend some money on better education. It may be their last chance before Thaksin really comes back.

To Joe at #9. If you dotn have your eye on events in thailand over the past xx years, a word of advice in your ear - say nothing. The constitution forbids the PM to have another job, laughable as it might be he had that cookery programme on tv (which was more than just how to cook pad thai!). but they were able to throw the constitution at him. the treatment of those herded up in the south was nothing short of a disgrace. The buck stopped at his desk.

US monitors? No thanks. Remember Florida?

No need for real reconciliation, no need for general election and no need for democracy as long as the "elites" believe they own the law, the courts, the state agencies, the generals, the military, the police, the "prostitute" politicians, the guns and the tanks. The facts have already proven that their saying of reconciliation is just another farce. No serious!
