10 September 2010 Re:Explanation concerning the appointment of Police Lieutenant General Somkid Boonthanom Dear Mr Nabil H.H. Ashri Charge d'Affaires of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
I wish to refer to our meeting on 2 September 2010 during which you inquired about the appointment of Police Lieutenant General Somkid Boonthanom, Provincial Police Commissioner, Region 5, to the position of Assistant Police Commissioner-General, and raised the issue regarding the said police officer who has been charged with a criminal offence of participation in murdering Mr Mohammad Al-Ruwaili in order to conceal his wrongdoing or to avoid prosecution of other criminal offences which he committed, has not only been suspended from his position but has also been promoted to a higher position.
