The Department of Special Investigation might ask the court to revoke bail given to seven leaders of the red-shirt people group if they take part in the planned mass protest on March 12, DSI director-general Tharit Pengdit said on Monday.
Mr Tharit said by participating in the mass rally, the seven co-leaders of the United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) could violate one of the conditions set by the Criminal Court - that the they must not incite violence.“The DSI, as the agency responsible for overseeing the UDD leaders’ court cases, will have to seek the revocation of the UDD leaders’ bail if they take to the rally stage and deliver speeches deemed to provoke unrest,” he said. The UDD leaders should be aware that their legal status is different from that of another red-shirt leader, Jatuporn Promphan, who has immunity from arrest as an MP.The UDD core members, including Weng Tojirakarn, the husband of UDD chairwoman Thaida Thavornseth, and Natthawut Saikua, were allowed bail last Tuesday on condition they must refrain from inciting violence and not leave the country. The DSI also confirmed that the Japanese news cameraman killed during the Bangkok unrest last year was shot by a high velocity bullet, probably fired from an AK-47 rifle.Mr Tharit said his agency has submitted investigation reports on 89 people, including Hiroyuki Muramoto, a Reuters News Agency cameraman, killed during the political unrest last year to the Metropolitan Police Bureau. Muramoto was killed on April 10 during clashes between red-shirt supporters and government forces at Khok Wua intersection in Bangkok.

browser D11 - The UDD leaders who you claim were the cause of all the violence were in prison for 9 months or murdered, and none of them received trial. I've been demanding a trial. The 'men in black', who were actually responsible for the violence, were never caught or even identified. The PAD, who were equally guilty of violence, were identified but never arrested. I demand a trial for them as well. What part of the equation am I missing?

D 10 - So do I. So all you need do, johninbkk, is add the red shirt terror to the equation and your list is complete !

browser D9 - What I'd like to avoid is a military coup, an airport takeover, the yellow assassination attempt on the Prime Minister, and the PAD bombings.

D 7 and 8 - Well, we all have our own bias, so that's a bit of a non-starter ! As a matter of fact, I do believe that the PAD should be held accountable. But what everyone wants to avoid is the terror of last year's rally. Although you will likely vehementally disagree, weapons were present, and a trained militia under Seh Daeng was present. Most of the protesters were peaceful, but that faction defintely was not. That is unacceptable in any country, in any movement, in any party.

browser D4 - The PAD should be given a trial, given their crime history and extensive evidence of violence, and their continuation of war-mongering with Cambodia. It's not good to have a political bias where you ignore crimes committed by your own side.

@browser: Are the PAD guys in jail? I am looking for them behind the bars but did not see them....would be good that you hold fair judgement on the situation.... unless you want to see only one side of the coin, none of the sides looks good but at least one shines for his claim of more democracy over privileges and country pocketing....

Ask yourself who controls the DSI? RE: D1 I wrote several messages yesterday, but they were censored.

There is every reason to be wary of all seven leaders of the UDD returning to the stage, given the history of their behavior, and their capacity to incite the crowds. The provisions of the bail ought to be enforced.

When will they be given trial?
